CroNoMar has been operational for 3 years in Sibenik since spring 2009. The company has been sponsored by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the project: Maritime Innovation Center in Sibenik and within the cooperative framework settled in Memorandum of Understanding - MOU for this purpose in December 2008.
Intention set up in MOU - the project of establishing a Croatian - Norwegian Maritime Innovation Centre, located in Sibenik, with the capacity of hosting and supporting Croatian-Norwegian commercial and institutional co-operation while creating an attractive business premises for business start-ups and development projects in the Maritime sector has been full field in July 2012. First tenants are moving into the Centre.
The purpose of the project is to contribute to the creation of a favourable and recognizable environment for co-operation whilst increasing the interaction between Norwegian and Croatian institutions and businesses in the maritime sector. The project is also aiming to create work opportunities for highly educated people in the region.
The main objective of the project is to establish linkages between Croatian and Norwegian partners, and to create co-operation on the development projects related to innovation, business development and commissioned research within marine/maritime sector.
As a major instrument for obtaining the goals, the Maritime Innovation Centre - iNavis has been established for hosting marine/maritime businesses and corresponding activities. Intention is that 50% of the Centre is “reserved” for well/already established companies, 25% towards service providing companies and 25% to innovation part of the Centre. Different institutions and agencies are included in project securing long term support to the project and facilitating active cooperation with the relevant Croatian public bodies, such as different Ministries, and others as deemed necessary.
A summary of CroNoMar Achievements so far is as follows:
- Together with City of Sibenik setting upthe Maritime Innovation Center – iNavis; attractive, open atmosphere both for employees and businesses. CroNoMar will within innovation area give business support to tenants including access to international networks, markets, cooperation with foreign companies, direct business support from Norway, consultancy services , seminars, advertising, etc.
- Creating maritime business relations between Norwegian and Croatian maritime industry. So far 2 leisure boat production contracts has been operational and one contract for building of work boats for the international Aquaculture industry; creating in 2011 within project with NCP 20 mil kn of export value, project with Sasvektor 6 mil kuna, project with Marine Globe 4 mil kn. Within these projects 10 new work places in 2011 have been created and 40 of them preserved.
- Creating Marine and Maritime R&D-collaborations between relevant institutions in Croatia and Norway, etc.
