Astrid Versto, g. Zdeslava Matića, pomoćnika ministra gospodarstva, g. Petra Šimića, posebnog savjetnika ministra poduzetništva i obrta, gđe.Emilije Margarete Vučinić,voditeljice Službe za bilateralne gospodarske poslove i g. Antuna Mahnića iz Ministarstva vanjskih poslova,g. Gorana Pauka, šibensko–kninskog župana i g.

Produktivnost koči iznimno velika i spora administracija.

NCP Group and Norwegian partners celebrated the delivery of the 50th catamaran for fish farms in Norway

ŠIBENIK, 10th May 2016

The delivery of the 50th catamaran produced at NauticalCentre Prgin for Norwegian clients, through mediation of the company CroNoMar,  was celebrated today at the repair shipyard by ribbon cutting. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway H.E. Mrs. Astrid Versto, Mr. Zdeslav Matić, assistant minister of the Ministry of  Economy,  Mr. Petar Šimić, special advisor to the minister of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Mrs. Emilija MargetaVučinić, Head of Department for Bilateral affairs and Mr. Antun Mahnić from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Goran Pauk, county perfect and mayor of Šibenik Mr. Željko Burić along with numerous guests, business partners and employees of the NCP Group.

Together with jubilee 50th catamaran, today also the 51st vessel will be delivered to the Norwegian clients which was built with the 50 in parallel, and considering the fact that the shipyard has last week signed 4 more newbuilding’s it is expected that the end of 2016 will end with delivery of 60 the vessel for international partners.
When the first contract for building work boat for Norwegian client was signed in  December 2009  with intention to build 15 working boats in the next 5 years, nobody could imagine that after 6 years a Norwegian Croatian partnership will result with more than 50 delivered vessels.

It is important to emphasize that the NCP group has signed the contract at the time of the biggest economic crisis and with no experience at all in building this type of vessels. Thanks to this project NCP group is directly contributing to the increase of export of Croatia towards Kingdom of Norway.

Also, the fact that the vessels are in total produced at NCP and the fact that large portion of equipment that is installed into the vessel is coming from the Croatian producers presenting Croatia as a brand at the markets all around the world in the maritime sector is of a great importance.

Before the start of the official delivery ceremony, at the entrance gate of the shipyard, the Croatian flag has been raised in the honour of the workers of former MTRZ-a VelimirŠkorpikwho have 25 years ago in than still military facility raised Croatian flag in spite of the hostile environment of Yugoslavian army. It was the first military facility in Croatia in which the Croatian flag was raised. Goran Prgin, the owner of NCP has compared that act with act of courage of the company that allows today that in non-sufficient encouraging climate for entrepreneurs the company is courage’s entering new business projects.

«Today by raising this flag we also mark a big working success, unfortunately in bad, and if I can say so extremely bad climate for entrepreneurship. By taking over the shipyard in 2004 we have planned 5years development in which our goal was to reach the 100 mil HRK of income and 250 employees. In only 3 years’ time we have achieved income of 120 mil HRK and 400 employees. Also, from a military shipyard we have developed into the shipyard where most of the production is oriented towards the refit of the leisure boats and commercial vessels. In the same period, we have built a marina with 350 berthing places.

Exactly at that time, when we hadin front of us valuable contracts and projects, economic crisis has hit us as well as the rest of the Europe, cutting our income into half and stopped planned development leaving shipyard in non-favourable situation. Then in 2010 with no experience in building aluminium catamarans we have contracted first 2 vessels for Norwegian client who despite the unfavourable situation expressed trust and confidence in us. At that moment nobody could imagine that we will end 2015 with delivery of 15 vessels, and here we are delivering vessel number 51and by the end of the year 2016 we will reach the 60th vessel as well, what is for us a great result.

I can openly say thatthis project has saved the shipyard. It is important to emphasise that at the moment when world economy has experienced the great crisis, NCP has recognized the potential within the project of building new vessels in which they haven’t got any experience and have shown from very beginning professionalism and great quality successfully achieving competitivenessat the world market.

One more time I have to say thank you to Mr Malvin Villabo and Norwegian partners who have had confidence in us. Also, I would like to thank to all employees who have produced high quality product recognized at the world markets and who have had patient and without question have conducted all their obligations despite even sometimes delays in paying out salaries. I have to thank also to our sub suppliers on their quality work and patience. I am proud of my shipyard and my employees because it is because of them that we havefinished 2015 with the revenues that excel the success before the crisis” said Mr. Goran Prgin emphasising that last year they have employed 30 new employees and he also expressed hope that the actual Croatian government will show more understanding for entrepreneurs enabling them faster and easier way towards financing of the new projects.

Mr. Malvin Villabo in his speech also referred to the beginningof this cooperation and he has specially commended the expertise and professionalism of the NCP in this project as well as the quality of the final product, which is today used in fish farms not only in Norway, but also in other countries around the world in which millions of tons of fish are breaded.

«Unfortunately, we still haven't found the modality of financing this project from public funds, meaning favourable mechanism of financing production that is export oriented through which we could finance projects like the one at NCP. At the moment in Croatia the production is weakened as well as the management of the projects and supply. The productivity has been slowed down by extremely big and slow administration. We are all at the same “ship” and we all have to fight for accomplishing goals that have been set up, that on the end will bring benefit to all sides involved”, said Mr Villabo.

H.E. Mrs. Astrid Villabo remained that Croatia and Norway are connected through long maritime heritage, therefore it is not by chance that companies are collaborating in this particular economic area. Also, H.E. expressed she wish that in future this cooperation becomes even stronger especially now when Croatia is a member of EU.

In his welcome speech Mr.Zdeslav Matić, assistant minister to the Ministry of Economy emphasised that he is acquainted to the work of NCP from very beginning and that he has at first followed the development of the project with worry and tension regarding the deadlines and fulfilmentof the contract obligations and today he is exceptionally pleased that the results of this project is much better even more than the most optimistic prognosis.

The whole project of building work boats for foreign clients has started through mediation of CroNoMar, a Croatian company in Norwegian ownership whose main goal is connecting and realization of business cooperation between Norwegian and Croatian companies. CroNoMar with its activities enables Croatian entrepreneurs access to the new markets and clients and therefore also quicker adoption of new technologies, increase in investments, development of long term business relationships based on trust, quality and reliability and also networking between business professionals with the goal of realization of new projects of Croatian exporters.

All vessels are produced in accordance with highest quality standards and each vessel as such is a product for itself totally adjusted to the wishes and needs of the end client. The trust between the partners has been confirmed by increasing in ordering. From starting idea until today, this business cooperation connected to the production of aluminium catamarans which are used as working vessels in Norwegian aquaculture sector, has developed faster than any expectation and also delivery of the vessels built by Croatian experts has been tripled in the meantime. Last year the export value of the delivered catamarans was 100 mil HRK.
