NEW CONTRACTS AND FURTER INCREASE OF EXPORT – THE REAL INDICATOR OF SUCCESS

In the first days of the New Year a new contracts for several more working vessels which croatian partners will produce for norwegian client have been signed. Specifically, the NCP from Šibenik has signed new contracts for three more vessels to be delivered by the end of summer 2018. With these new contracts this Croatian company has achieved the great result of a total of 87 ordered vessels for the world aquaculture market in the last 8 years. The vessels are used in day-to-day operations at the fish farms and are adapted to the harsh weather conditions as well as customer requirements. Independently of the vessel type and its purpose each is specific and is tailored to the requirements of the end customer. This successful project of building work boats that has started already in 2010 has been continued with contracting building of new types of vessels with the local shipbuilder in Šibenik, as well as shipbuilders in Pula, Kaštela and Murter.

At the moment 11 vessels have been contracted at the shipyard in Sibenik and their delivery is expected by the end of the summer 2018. Here we talk about several different types of vessels, both in terms of size and their technical characteristics. The Shipyard from Pula will deliver in 2018 two working catamarans of 15 m length, one fishing vessel and one service vessel while Oštro company from Kaštela will by the end of the summer deliver 6 monohull vessel. Also, the norwegian clien is in negotiation with Oštro related to possibility of building bigger vessel.  At the beginning of this year, another small Croatian shipyard from Murter has been involved in the construction of vessels for international markets, which will in 2018 deliver the first vessels to norwegian clients. The new contracts are proof that companies from Croatian small shipbuilding sector are achieving top results on a demanding global market.

Several new models and types of vessels are in negotiation phase. The importance of this project lies in the fact that the quality of Croatian shipbuilders has been successfully presented both in Norway and  other markets all around the world. The entire project has started through mediation of CroNoMar, a croatian company in norwegian ownership whose goal is to connect and materialize business cooperation between Norwegian and Croatian companies enabling Croatian companies access to the new markets and customers. The products of Croatian small shipbuilding industry which we have been succesfuly exporting since 2010 are catamarans of 13,50-15,10m length, monohull vessels of 10,50m length and service vessels of 21,00-24,99m length. The excellent results of this type of business co-operation have resulted with the building of new vessel types and this was the foundation of long term successful cooperation with Norwegian partners which has been continued through contracting of new business activities for this demanding market.

It is also a fact and a great pleasure for all project participants that these vessels built in the Croatian shipyards are achieving  international recognition and competitiveness on the large world market. This project is an excellent example of successful business cooperation between Croatian and Norwegian partners representing the quality and competitiveness of small Croatian shipbuilding industry in one of the countries with the most advanced shipbuilding industry in the world - in Norway.

New deliveries from Croatia are planned for the first quarter of 2018. Croatian and foreign partners do not hide the pleasure with  further development of cooperation. The first business contacts have opened the way for success but it was difficult to predict that this number of working boats for international clients will be built in a very short time meaning that a Croatian exporters in the small shipbuilding industry sector would achieve the wished results.

The activities of CroNoMar are focused on identifying business opportunities of Croatian companies in the marine/maritime sector and their realization through active support for each project, creating on this way a value chain, the model of value chain from the idea to commercialization, enabling companies direct access to the world market.
