WELCOME TO CRONOMAR
Wednesday 6 November 2019 | 12:00:10 | Published in News

CroNoMar posluje s ciljem povezivanja hrvatskih i norveških partnera u međunarodnom sektoru mora i pomorstva.

Osim norveškog tržišta, šibenski i drugi hrvatski brodovi izgrađeni posredstvom CroNoMar-a plove na ribogojilištima Saudijske arabije, Šetlandskih otočja, Islanda, Kanade i drugih zemalja svijeta.

The plan was to deliver 15 catamarans and now the delivery of 100th catamaran produced at Sibenik shipyard is taking place!
It all started back in 2009 in negotiations between potential Norwegian clients and several Croatian small shipyards which took place following the establishment of Croatian-Norwegian cooperation in the maritime sector based on the establishment of the iNavis Center in Šibenik and the start of operation of company CroNoMar. CroNoMar runs its business activities with the aim of connecting Croatian and Norwegian partners in the international maritime sector. Following its basics, CroNoMar has from the very beginning used all its possibilities - working meetings, fairs, conferences and seminars at home and abroad, in order to present domestic potential and Croatian quality on foreign markets, primarily Norwegian. The first results were visible already in 2010, when the first contract for the delivery of an aluminium catamaran for Norwegian market was signed.

By signing this contract with Sibenik shipyard the optimistic idea of building 15 catamarans for the foreign market over a five years period seemed at that time as a realistic goal.
Now, after a 10-year period is behind us in November 2019 the 100th catamaran produced at ISKRA shipyard in Sibenik (ex NCP) will be delivered. From the initial idea until today this business cooperation connected to the production of aluminium catamarans used as working vessels primarily in the Norwegian aquaculture sector has developed significantly faster than all expectation and also the vessel deliveries built by Croatian experts have in the meantime increased significantly compared to the plan.

Exceptional product quality, high professionalism and deliveries on time are foundation of this long successful cooperation between Norwegian partner and Sibenik shipyard. The products of Sibenik shipyard are aluminium catamarans of different sizes used as working and service vessels in the aquaculture sector worldwide promoting Croatian top-quality products, innovativity and competitiveness of companies in this sector on the best possible way.

Regardless of the vessel type and its purpose each new vessel-product is specific and is made according to the requirements of the end client. The result of this is a challenging subcontracting of the work related to the construction of the vessel.
So far CroNoMar has mediated in a finalization of more than 250 shipbuilding contracts which are related to the working vessels, based on which an impressive number of 100 exported catamarans from ISKRA shipyard for Norwegian and other aquaculture markets in the last ten years has been achieved.

Vessels built in Sibenik are used in day-to-day operations at fish farms around the world. In addition to the Norwegian market, Sibenik and other vessels built in Croatia through mediation of CroNoMar are working on the fish farms of Saudi Arabia, Shetland Islands, Iceland, Canada and other countries in the world. Thanks to the achieved product quality and competitiveness compared other producers further planning and contracting of new models and types of vessels has been enabled to the ISKRA shipyard.
CroNoMar's activities are aimed to identification of market needs and facilitating access to the new markets in order to strengthen the competitiveness and export potential of Croatian entrepreneurs, especially small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the maritime sectors in Croatia, as well as direct intermediation in contracting with foreign buyers, including active role of CroNoMar in implementation of those above mentioned both towards Croatian and Norwegian partners.
The 100th catamaran that will be delivered from ISKRA Shipyard is a HIBRID - an aluminium catamaran 13.75m of length and 8m of width with brand new electrical installations including diesel generators, batteries and electrical propulsion, as well as specific equipment that will be operated by electrical drive - cranes, thrusters, winches, etc.

Given that Norway is working very much on reduction of CO2, nitrogen oxides and other harmful substances, this project in subcontracted precisely with the aim of reduction of harmful emissions which aquaculture industry in Norway is producing, having in mind reduction of ecological footprint from production.

It is expected that the development and production of a hybrid-powered vessel will contribute to the environment protection through reduced emissions because the use of diesel propulsion will be reduced by more than 75% on a daily basis. The idea is that the vessel is to use the diesel-electric propulsion in transit from the dock to the location of the fish farm. When the vessel arrives at the fish farm location, the diesel propulsion is shut down and the vessel is working 100% on electrical power with zero emission and better working conditions for workers on the deck.

Croatian and foreign partners are very satisfied with the development of cooperation. The first business contacts opened the way to success but it was hard to predict that in a period of 10 years such a large number of catamarans for foreign buyers will be subcontracted and built, especially having in mind the fact that each vessel has been separately subcontracted and as such is specific. The Sibenik's shipyard in small shipbuilding sector has achieve not only the expected results, but also much more than that.
More importantly, the new jobs and the construction of new vessels types for the international market are also expected. Currently, through mediation of company CroNoMar with ISKRA Shipyard in Šibenik, 14 more vessels for the Norwegian and other international aquaculture markets has been subcontracted. These are different types and models of vessels like mono hulls, catamarans, fishing vessels, working vessels for fish farms as well as new hybrid vessels.

This project is an excellent example of successful business cooperation between Croatian and Norwegian partners through which the quality and competitiveness of Croatian shipbuilding is presented in one of the countries with most developed shipbuilding sector in the world - Norway
