This August 2 more work boats built by Croatian boat builder have been delivered to the international aquaculture market. The plan is to deliver one more work boat and one service vessel by the end of August. Two of the exported vessel were aluminium catamarans built at NCP shipyard in Šibenik; one 13,75m long and other 15m long vessel. The 15 m long vessel is the 2nd vessel of that length produced in Croatia. Earlier, those catamarans were built only in China. There has been a significant difference between 1st and 2nd vessel mostly in technical solutions and improvements. The export that will come until end of August will include one catamaran/working boat of 13,75 m and one service vessel that will be delivered to the customer by which an impressive figure of 53 exported catamarans and 3 service vessel for Norwegian and other international aquaculture markets in the last five has been achieved. Boats built in Sibenik are used in daily operations at the fish farms around the world and service vessels built at Tehnomont are so far used only in Norway. The vessels built at NCP is going to Iceland and therefore is in final phase of adjustments due to the Iceland’s boatbuilding standards. Vessel built at Tehnomont is a service vessel which will be used on fish farms in Norway. This vessel will supply the fish farms with everything they need, as well as carry out all the works related to usage, maintenance and servicing of the farm.
Starting from the fact that Croatia is a country that wants to attract investment projects of higher added value whose business is linked to the modern technology and innovation as well as internationalization of the businesses, the whole project of boat building in Croatia started in 2010 in collaboration with company CroNoMar whose main goal is to connect Croatian and Norwegian companies, identification of market needs and providing access to the new markets in order to strengthen the competitiveness and export potential of our entrepreneurs, especially small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the maritime sector in Croatia. This innovative company was established in 2009 and since then helps entrepreneurs from the region and entire Croatian on the way towards the foreign markets, and is successfully identifying and creating new business opportunities for the further breakthrough of quality Croatian products on the world scene.
Neither Croatian or foreign partners hide satisfaction with the development of cooperation. The first business contacts have opened the way towards the success, but it was difficult to predict this kind of development. Thanks to product quality and competitiveness in relation to other producers, this project has been continued by contracting of new models and types of ships. Regardless of the type of the boat and its purpose, each vessel/contract is specific and it is negotiated and built according to the demands of the end customer. More importantly, 11 new contracts are in place and 4 more are in negotiation phase. That means not only the growth in revenue and earnings, but also new employment of various profiles of workers in the Croatian shipbuilding and engineering sector. CroNoMar has been mediator in all of these contracts and relevant partner in project implementation and finalization both to Croatian and Norwegian partner. Today, these vessels can be regarded as well-known Croatian product for international aquaculture market.
These examples of successful cooperation show that on the international market there is room for everybody who can offer a competitive product or service of high added value with guarantee of quality. In addition to linking partners which are participating on this project, CroNoMar on behalf of the Norwegian client performs supervision of building, which is another confirmation of the quality of Croatian experts and trust of the Norwegian client, thus creating the foundation for new cooperation’s. Precisely this type of partnerships is prerequisite for economic growth, are ensuring the production growth, new investments, and new, well-paid jobs.
