On the end of June 2013, a new contract for two more boats between Croatian repair shipyard NCP in Šibenik and Norwegian client Moen Marinhas been signed. The value of one contract is approximately 640.000,00 EUR per boat. The contract has been signed for boats number 19 and 20, showing the continuity of successful cooperation that has started already with deliveries to Norway in 2010.
This project is a wonderful example of a successful cooperation between Croatian and Norwegian partners that presents quality, competitiveness and professionalism of Croatian boat builders in one of the most developed shipbuilding nations in the world - Norway.
From the very start of the project, the intention was to implement a new, serial production shipbuilding model that will last for many years in Croatia. Leaded by that thought, CroNoMar had a relevant role in connecting Croatian and Norwegian partners. CroNoMar is a Norwegian company that was set up in Croatia in 2009 with purpose to actively participate in further development of Croatian maritime activities as a marine/maritime oriented company with focus on creating new business activities and development of new products, services, business models within the marine/maritime field. The one of the first results of CroNomar was a contract signed in 2009 between NCP repair shipyard and Norwegian client on a project of building aluminum catamarans for aquaculture industry in Norway.
During the implementation of the project, CroNomar is continuously working together with partners assisting them to increase competitiveness of the product.
From the very start in 2010 up to 2013, the 10 working boats were delivered and now in 2013, meaning in only one year, the 10 more boats will be delivered.
The Norwegian client is very satisfied with the quality and delivery on time; so far some 4-5 months is the time needed for finalizing one boat, meaning that boats have been built in parallel. This project has also an additional value since it is providing a safe and constant employment for some 30-40 workers locally in Šibenik and much more related to cooperative outside sub suppliers. Just to give a short remainder, the catamarans are 13,5 m length, 7,5 m width characterized by the large crane and fast engine. They have been used on every day basics on the fish farms in Norway.
Due to the needs of Norwegian aquaculture industry, it is evidently that this project has a promising future.
